Complex Partnerships
Biology-based approach.
Functional medicine is a systems biology-based approach to medicine that involves a complex partnership between each patient and their provider in order to either restore or continue good health and longevity. Commonly called “root cause medicine”, this approach involves getting to the root cause of illness and working to reverse disease and symptoms in order to avoid long term medication/medical therapies if possible. Functional medicine takes into consideration that the human body is a complex web of systems, and that one condition may have many causes and one cause can contribute to many conditions.
